Peak season runs from about October to April, when the weather is dry and warm. Winter (May to August) is wetter, but many estates offer lower winter rates and indoor options with fireplaces, which makes it good value for smaller weddings.
Popular estates often take Saturday bookings 12 to 18 months ahead for peak-season dates. Weekday and winter dates are usually easier to get at shorter notice.
Many wine estates have in-house catering or a short list of approved caterers, and some charge a fee for outside suppliers. Ask each venue what is included in the venue fee before you compare prices.
Some estates have on-site cottages or guest suites for the couple and family, and the larger towns have plenty of guest houses nearby. If many guests are flying in, check how far the venue is from the main accommodation.
