All-inclusive wedding packages in the Winelands: what they include, what they cost and when they beat à la carte
Updated 3 November 2026
Published 2026/27 package prices from Winelands estates, what each tier actually bundles, the exclusions that catch couples, and a worked comparison against hiring everything separately.
An all-inclusive Winelands wedding package for 100 guests costs between about R180 000 and R420 000 in 2026/27, depending on how much the estate bundles. The cheapest tiers cover the venue, a three-course meal, staff, tables and chairs and a DJ; the most expensive add a full bar, photography and video, flowers, a cake, hair and makeup, accommodation and a planner. Per head, the market runs from R800 at a Stellenbosch wine farm with no venue fee to R6 000 at a Wellington estate that includes rooms.
Packages are the fastest route to a fixed price, and for couples planning from overseas they remove most of the coordination. They are also where couples most often pay for things they would not have chosen, or discover that 'all-inclusive' excluded the bar. This guide sets out the published packages, decodes the inclusions and shows, with real numbers, when a package beats booking everything yourself.

What 'all-inclusive' means in practice
There is no standard definition, and the same word covers three different products in the Winelands.
Per-head packages
The estate charges one price a guest for the venue, the meal and the staff, sometimes with the wedding-night room thrown in. Skilpadvlei's R800, Cultivar's R870, ASARA's R1 455 to R1 495 and Bakenhof's R2 800 to R6 000 are all of this kind. They are simple and scale cleanly with the guest list, but they carry minimum numbers, and the bar is almost never included. They suit couples with 50 to 150 guests who want the venue and the food settled in one line and are happy to book their own photographer, florist and DJ.
Tiered packages
The Venue Paarl's Silver, Gold and Platinum are the clearest example in the Winelands. Each tier bundles a set of named suppliers at a set standard: Silver includes photography but not video or drinks; Gold adds a full beverage package, video and accommodation for 12; Platinum adds a planner, premium bar, live entertainment, hair and makeup and rooms for 26. Prices are fixed for 60 to 150 guests, so the per-head cost falls steeply as numbers rise, from R3 000 a head at 60 guests on Silver to R1 200 a head at 150. They suit couples who want one contract and one point of contact and are comfortable with the estate's chosen suppliers.
Exclusive-use estate packages
At the top of the market the 'package' is the whole property for two or three nights with the accommodation compulsory: Maison, Boschendal's Retreat and the hotel estates work this way. The headline figure looks enormous, but it covers 20 to 72 beds for three nights, which, at Franschhoek boutique rates of R3 000 to R6 000 a room a night, is a large part of the price. These suit destination weddings where the couple wants guests on one property and would be paying for rooms anyway. They are not all-inclusive in the catering sense: food, drinks, décor and a planner all sit on top.
The exclusions to check before you sign
- The bar. It is excluded from almost every per-head package, and where a beverage package is included, ask what it covers (house wine and beer until midnight is typical) and what the 10 to 15 percent service fee applies to.
- Minimum guests. 80 on a Saturday at Skilpadvlei, 100 at Bakenhof, 30 at ASARA, 60 at The Venue Paarl. Below the minimum you pay for the minimum.
- Hours. Packages are built on a nine-hour day at The Venue Paarl and an eight-hour day at many others, usually ending at midnight. Overtime is R2 500 to R4 500 an hour.
- Ceremony. Often an add-on: R50 a head at Skilpadvlei, R30 a head at Vredenheim, R1 500 flat at some estates, and ceremony chairs may be separate again.
- Décor and flowers. 'Basic décor' means tables, chairs and linen in the estate's standard style. Anything personal is extra.
- Supplier substitution. Tiered packages name the estate's suppliers. Swapping in your own photographer usually earns a credit smaller than that supplier's price.
- Deposits and payment terms. A 25 percent deposit and a R10 000 breakage deposit at The Venue Paarl are typical; some estates want 50 percent within days of booking.
- Public holidays. Charged at weekend rates plus extra staffing almost everywhere.
Package or à la carte: a worked comparison
Take a 100-guest Saturday wedding in Paarl in October 2026 and price it both ways using published figures.
100 guests, The Venue Paarl, October Saturday
| Line | Gold package | À la carte |
|---|---|---|
| Venue | Included | R60 000 (September to November weekend rate) |
| Catering, Deluxe-level plated menu | Included | R85 000 at R850 a head |
| Staff | Included | R20 000 |
| Full beverage package | Included | R38 000 |
| Two-tier cake | Included | R6 000 |
| Flowers and elevated décor | Included | R40 000 |
| Stationery | Included | R5 000 |
| DJ, sound and dance-floor lighting | Included | R15 000 |
| Photography, eight hours | Included | R22 000 |
| Videography, eight hours | Included | R22 000 |
| Half planning and coordination | Included | R25 000 |
| Accommodation for 12 with transport | Included | R24 000 |
| Total | R288 000 | About R362 000 |
On these numbers the package is about R74 000 cheaper, which is typical: at 100 guests and above, bundles usually undercut à la carte by 15 to 25 percent because the estate buys its suppliers' time in volume and fills off-peak dates. The gap narrows below 80 guests, where the fixed package price works against you, and it reverses if you would not have booked several of the included items. A couple who want no video, a friend's band and flowers from a specific florist should price à la carte at a venue-only estate instead.
Who should take a package
- Couples planning from abroad who cannot visit more than once. One contract, one contact, one invoice. Read our destination wedding guide first.
- Guest lists of 100 to 150, where the per-head price falls fastest.
- Couples who want the certainty of a fixed total more than control over every supplier.
- Short engagements. A tiered package at an estate with its suppliers already lined up can be delivered in three months.
Who should not
- Fewer than 60 guests. Look instead at per-head packages with low minimums, or at the restaurant-style venues in our elopement and small weddings guide.
- Couples with strong supplier preferences, or with a photographer already booked.
- Couples who want to bring their own wine. Only a handful of venues allow it, and none of the tiered packages do.
- Anyone planning a marquee on a lawn-only site, where the package covers the ground and nothing else.
Questions to ask before you sign a package
- Exactly which items are included, by name and quantity: hours of photography, number of table arrangements, which menu, how many bar hours.
- What the price is for your exact date, since weekday, weekend, season and public holiday rates differ.
- What happens if the guest count changes after signing, in both directions.
- Whether you may swap a supplier and what credit you would receive.
- What service fees, gratuities and deposits apply on top.
- What the overtime rate is and when the bar closes.
- Whether a coordinator is included or compulsory and extra.
Compare any package against the line-by-line figures in how much a Winelands wedding costs and the supplier tiers in what Winelands wedding suppliers cost. For venues by town, start with Paarl, Wellington and Stellenbosch, where most of the published packages are.
