Tie the Knot is a two-person practice based in Gordon's Bay, a short drive from Somerset West and the Helderberg wine farms. Symi, a relationship coach, and Ava, who styles herself a wedding faerie godmother, are both registered through SAPRA with the Department of Home Affairs, so the ceremonies they conduct are legally binding.

They build each ceremony through video calls, in-person meetings and some pre-wedding homework for the couple, and they are explicit that religion, gender, sexual orientation and race make no difference to who they will marry. Non-religious, multi-faith, pagan handfasting, LGBTQIA+ and renewal ceremonies are all on offer, along with elopement packages. A free video chat is available before any commitment; prices are quoted on request.
